Glowing Paper Lantern

School holidays mean we have a little more time to make something fabulous.

Kids Studio workshops start with an idea — then we give kids the materials, show them a few tricks and let their imaginations take over.

This time, we’re making glowing paper lanterns.

Start with a plain lantern and completely transform it. Layer it with tissue and patterned papers. Cut, tear, collage and play with colour. Then add long trailing ribbons and fabric before popping a little light inside and watching the whole thing glow.

Will it be colourful? Wild? Flowery? Covered in patterns? Completely bonkers?

That bit is up to them.

They’ll leave with a lantern they designed and made themselves — ready to hang somewhere at home and light up.
